A new album, a tantalizing and totally amazing ambient musical narrative from our master composer Maximum Movement Theatre! Songs Of The Shaman.
One of the nicest things about following the work of artists like those on our label is that you get to exerience these progressions. You can experience the depth and breadth of their musical gifts, over time. Maximum Movement Theatre, aka Barry, is one of our great talents. I have so enjoyed not only the totally impressive quality of his music, but that he imparts knowledge and a new experience with each successive album!
Shaman. A person regarded as having access to, and influence in, the world of good and evil spirits, especially among some peoples of northern Asia and North America. Typically such people enter a trance state during a ritual, and practice divination and healing.*
Songs Of The Shaman is comprised of two, longer form tracks. Barry uses the same excellent synth construction he is noted for, although now in the background, with a welcoming and beautifully executed piano track out front and center! And perfectly complementing vocal tracks.
Track 1, The Middle World, is so beautiful. It gracefully flows, a gentle piano, some very precisely timed background voice choir, hushed and melodic. Twenty two minutes and 24 seconds of pure, soft sonic, delight!
Track two, Invocation. Copy all attributes of track one, and add a shamanic drum beat, more lovely voice chorus and a cooing songstress. The piano is now lovely tinkerings of the keys which add another layer to the mix. Another positively beautiful piece of music. Twenty five added minutes of musical relish. Shamanic style.
Enjoy the journey. Songs Of The Shaman. Maximum Movement Theatre. Ambient music at it's finest.
