A collaborative project, Sense Of Doubt 1 was recorded by Cousin Silas (Studio Cousin Silas UK) and Eisenlager (Studio Glasklinge Zeitenlicht) in January of 2018.
I would call this an anything goes kind of album. I would also call this a somewhat brilliant album. I have come to know Eisenlager as a truly gifted artist. He is also a free spirited creative force. He does exactly what he feels with his music, from the heart, and without consideration for anything resembling a constraint! The same exact things I would say about Cousin Silas. And I personally am thrilled when I see artistic friends push the boundaries, raise the stakes, take the unpaved road and say, why not??!
With Sense Of Doubt 1, you are definitely on the unpaved road! There is no obvious rhyme or reason, no theme, no continuum, simply excellent music!
And to that music, both Eisenlager and Cousin Silas are incredibly adept at experimenting, mixing it up, in ways others don't seem to imagine. I love it when the synths are gliding along amid layers of lovely little background sounds, and bam! In pops a lovely muted trumpet. Or slightly discordant keys. Or some other element that shouldn't work, but does. This is especially true of the final track, Believe Me, More Is Coming. The opening track, Take Your Mouth And Smile At People You Love, is simply beautiful! The second track is amazing too, with it's repeating synth glissando! Each track of seven adds it's own bit of magic. Overall, an excellent and wonderfully creative project by Cousin Silas and Eisenlager. Enjoy "Sense Of Doubt 1". I have no doubt you will! And we can all look forward to the sequel album!
